John Cedarburg biography,
John Cedarburg has been
involved with amateur and professional baseball for the past 24
years. He has coached at the community college level, in the
Southeastern conference and is a professional scout for the Colorado
Rockies. Cedarburg began his coaching career at South Florida CC in
Avon Park, FL. After a 3-year stint Cedarburg moved on to
Mississippi State U as a graduate assistant. While at Mississippi
State, the Bulldogs participated in the College World Series and the
Northeast regional. Upon completion of 2 Master’s degrees, Cedarburg
moved on to be the Head Coach at Edison CC. During his tenure at
Edison CC he guided the Edison CC teams to a 159-135 record over 7
seasons. Three of his former players made it to the Major Leagues
and 12 others had the opportunity to achieve their goal of playing
professionally. 13 former players are presently coaches at the
Division 1, 2, Junior College or High School level.
After the 1997 season Edison CC dropped all of their
athletic programs and Cedarburg moved into the Professional ranks as
a scout for the Colorado Rockies.
Cedarburg is in his 12th
year as a scout for the 2007 National League Champs and 2009 Wild
Card team Colorado
Rockies. In 2002, Cedarburg was named the Colorado Rockies "Scout of
theYear". He scouts the central and southern parts of the state of
Florida. Cedarburg has been the president of the Florida Diamond
Club; a Florida based baseball scouts organization and he was
instrumental in the formation of the Florida Scouts Hall of Fame.
Cedarburg has been a
guest speaker at the Florida Athletic Coaches Association, the
National American Baseball Coaches Convention and at the prestigious
"Be the Best" Coaches Convention in Cherry Hill, NJ. He
has been involved with various camps and clinics around the country
since 1996 and has run his John Cedarburg Pro’s Select baseball
camps and clinics since 1992.
He has been very active
in the Southwest Florida community and around the state of Florida
for years. Based in Fort Myers, FL; Cedarburg has run a fall
traveling team since 1994 and was a founding member of Southwest
Florida Baseball Inc. in 1998. Southwest Florida Baseball runs the
Southwest Florida Wood Bat league and the successful Southwest
Florida Baseball traveling teams in both the Fall and Summer. Over
125 Southwest Florida Baseball alumni have continued their career at
the college or professional level.
